CALL FOR PAPERS

AVA Malaysia Chapter would like to announce a call for papers for the 19th AVA Pre-Congress Meeting. There will be one country report and a seminar paper from each country based on the given sub-themes.


COUNTRY REPORT 

The ASEAN Economic Community is becoming much more transparent and real. As such, Country Reports should be prepared with an extra effort to foster integration of our property market by providing market data for the past 10 years, where possible. For easy comparison, all figures should be in USD. Each country is to prepare a full report to include the following. Written reports are expected to be comprehensive and detailed.


  1. Coverage of the general economic aspects and outlook, which covers basic data on Real GDP, Population, Demographic Composition (Population by Age Group), per Capita Income, Household Income & Inflation. 
  2. For office market (in the capital city, and/or key cities in addition) the Grade A and Grade B gross and net rentals of dedicated office buildings, their capital values and net yields. 
  3. For retail sector (in the capital city, and/or key cities in addition), the average ground floor gross and net rentals of modern shopping centres as well as the average upper floor rentals and capital values.
  4. For high end condominium sector (in the capital city, and/or key cities in addition), the gross and net rentals of condominiums and capital values. 
  5. For standard housing type (eg. in Malaysia 2 storey terraced house) (in the capital city, and/or the key cities in addition), the gross and net rentals as well as capital values. 
  6. For hospitality or hotel sector (in the capital city, and/or key cities in addition) (for 3, 4 and 5 Star hotels), the average room rates and occupancy rates. 
  7. For industrial sector (in the capital city, and/or key cities in addition), the gross and net rentals as well as capital values. 



SEMINAR PAPER

Each member country has been designated to undertake the writing of papers according to the sub-theme as follows:-


  1. Cross-Border Valuations: Challenges and Practices by Brunei, Philippines & Thailand
    • The objective is to give an understanding, appreciating and exchange of experience in valuation practice across the region.
  2. Emerging Issues in Real Estate by Vietnam, Indonesia & Cambodia
    • ASEAN Valuers community would then be able to share relevant current issues that may bring out solution and establishing best practice that benefits those in the profession.
  3. Policy and Practice Issues in the Provision of Property Management Services by Malaysia & Singapore.
    • The theme provides some insights on policies or best practice in Property Management Services that can be shared and benefits the Asian Valuers community.



GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATION COUNTRY REPORTS & SEMINAR PAPERS 

i. Each presenter is given 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A.
ii. Presentation is with the aid of power point slides.
iii. PowerPoint Presentation must be given to the Secretariat during the registration day.
